Here are my most memorable moments at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama:
5. Tennessee game senior year when we were having a lackluster year and the Vols came in ranked #7 in the nation. We absolutely man handled them, but that wasn't what holds in my memory. I remember right as the clock hit zero everyone in the student section started throwing things on the field. While I took a shower in whiskey, I spotted Drew Cater looking for something to throw. He was frantically looking for some cup, nacho tray, or shaker, but the first thing he ran across was a girls shoe. He roped that thing onto the field like he was throwing someone out at home plate. I remember looking right behind him and some girl, forgotten who it was, looked as if she was about to body slam him. This was such a priceless moment that I had to include it in my top 5.
4. Georgia game my freshman year. This game was one for the ages. It was all knotted up at the end of regulation and went into overtime. The game had been back and forth the whole time. Finally, in OT we held UGA to a field goal on their first possession and we cashed in on a QB sneak to win the game. Now the reason this is such a memorable experience is because two of my pledge brothers thought it would be cool to rush the field, Dave Collins and John Wallace. Well they both got past the first wave of cops when they realized that no one else was rushing the field. I remember both of them looking at each other and instantly sobering up. Wallace had a pretty easy time getting back into the stands, but Collins didn't. I recall Collins juking two cops, and then stiff arming a third to the ground. He then jumped over the rail like it was a pile on the goal line and made is safely back into the stands. It was probably the best run in the stadium the whole afternoon.
3. First play of the Alabama game senior year, when Cadillac took the hand off and ran all the way down into the red zone. I am going to need some assistance on how long that run was. This set the tone for the whole night. It was sheer domination by the Tigers. I remember me and Shug sitting together with our dates and I believe they were sick of us after the first play b/c we kept hugging everyone around us and giving them high fives. It was nuts. I had chill bumps all over my body. I still get chills thinking about that game, and even as I type.
2. Florida game sophomore year. We all know what happened. UF came in ranked #1 in the nation. We were double digit underdogs to Spurrier and his boys. One thing I remember in particular was the weather. It was tornado type weather, and something was eerie about the whole situation. You could sense the feeling that something crazy was going to happen that night. The flags on the field goals were blowing one way, and the American flag on the flag pole was flying the other way. Anywho, the Tigers kept it close all game and it was back and forth. It was a game for the ages. Well Auburn got the ball late in the game and drove down to field goal range then called a timeout. Auburn brought out Damon Duval to kick the game winning field goal. Everyone was going crazy, and then a calm came over the stadium as he came to kick. From my angle I thought he had missed it, but the refs came out with both arms up. The place was rocking, people started rushing the field, including me. The goal post got torn down and fans were giving players high fives. I'll never forget that night, and the fact that Blake Smith got arrested for charging the field along with about 40,000 other students. Good Times.
1. Nothing lives up to my last game as a student at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Alabama game... We totally dominated the Tide all night long. They were sick of seeing Carnell tear them up. But the best memory at Jordan-Hare stadium was standing with Shug, Craig, Rabun, and Stewart at the end of the game singing the "Hey Bama"..."We just beat the hell out of you"..."Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, Go to hell Alabama".
So, there they are...
