Country Music

I have been on a country music kick for the past couple of weeks, so with all due respect to my kick here are my Top 5 artist/groups and favorite song of theirs:
5. Hank Williams Jr. - Dixie on My Mind
4. Kenny Chesney - Not so much his new stuff, but more of the old Kenny (probably the reason he is sitting as low as #4)...The Good Stuff is my favorite though
3. Brooks and Dunn - Hard Workin' Man
2. George Strait - Carrying Your Love With Me
1. Alabama - Song of the South
Thoughts? Your favorites? Anyone needed to be replaced?

Nice. I don't think you are too far off on the artists (except if you're gonna have Chesney on there I think you need to go back further). Here is my offering of some alternative songs for the artists you've selected.
5. Hank, Jr. - Dinosaur
4. Kenny Chesney - That's Why I'm Here OR All I Need to Know
3. Brooks and Dunn - Brand New Man
2. George Strait - The Chill of an Early Fall
1. Alabama - Dixieland Delight OR (in December) Christmas in Dixie

I am a bit more old school:
In no particular order:

George Strait: I Can Still Make Cheyenne
Willie Nelson: Blues Eyes Cryin in the Rain or Whiskey River
Johnny Cash: Folsom Prison Blues
Dwight Yoakam: Guitars, Cadillacs
Merle Haggard: The Fightin Side of Me

Kenney Chesney is a sellout wannabe Jimmy Buffett. But Back Where I Come From is a killer song.

I didnt give country a chance til I came down to AU. Heres some of my picks

Kenny Chesney - "Back Where I Come From" & Alabama - "Down Home" . . . I like to pretend I wasnt born in the foothills of suburbia when I listen to these

Johnny & June Carter Cash - "Jackson" This song is so rockin and June's voice knocks my socks off

Hank Williams Sr. - "Lost Highway"

Gram Parsons wrote one of my favorite songs of all time . . .

Tmy5,
I totally agree with Kenny trying to become a Jimmy Buffett sellout. That is why I don't claim his last two albums. I see some very good potential for my next country mix CD that I will be burning in the near future. That's right...I will be stealing music.

Why has no one mentioned Achy Breaky Heart or Have You Forgotten? What about the worst country songs ever?

well, i'm still posting - ha. okay, does anyone remember that song "Texas Tornado" ? I nominate it for the worst country song ever. I think it was by one of the Tracy's - there were too many in the early 90s to keep straight. If you know this song, i think you will agree - it was the pits.

Maggie, That Tracy would be Tracy Lawrence. In agreement with that song sucking, Does anybody remember the video for this song and how TL had a string of like 5 videos that were connected by him time warping to a new scene and the always popular "To be continued..." ending? That was a terrible idea and probably the reason why nobody knows where Tracy Lawrence is today. Maybe I'm the only CMT loser.
